Seriously, I thought these stories were good enough, many of them, the first THREE times they were published. Five times, in at least one case, and possibly two. But there is not a single new story in this collection, folks. I almost titled this review "R is for Ripoff." Her first “sin” reveal is that she scrolled too much on her phone shopping for a dress to wear to a wedding AFTER the kids went to bed. 🙄🙄 M is for the many things I always hope to get out of reading a Neil Gaiman book. Last week, we talked about the view of motherhood that posits that the only way to be “real” is to expose the hard parts of being a mom and name them one-by-one. This week, we talk about how motherhood, far from stripping us of our true selves or primary identity, can be a wonderful avenue for helping us exercise our God-given talents + abilities in ways that honor Him, serve our families, and bring us great fulfillment as well.I looooved this book so so much. This is the first motherhood-focused book I’ve read and it challenged, encouraged, and convicted me in so many ways. This book spoke directly to several things I’m currently dealing with as well as provided me with knowledge for things to come in the future. I cannot recommend because I feel it will compound any existing shame that someone may have and it could, as it did for me, lead them more into themselves and a dependence on their performance as a mother instead of Christ’s as our only sufficient Hope for our children or ourselves. I can only imagine what 10 kids looks like, she obviously is excellent at many things. But I didn’t enjoy at all the subtle weaving throughout that if you don’t surrender the amount of kids that you will have like she did in her early years or aren’t a MOM (mom of many) as she calls it, you aren’t doing it right. Children are a blessing, but I got the impression if you stop having children by choice because of your marriage, finances, or legitimate mental health, that’s just an excuse.

Especially considering that this particular book of stories is by Neil Gaiman who can pen novles that are original enough that the only resemblance they bear to one another is the name on the front cover. I think it would appeal to both autistic teens and neuro typical teens as autistic teens will benefit from realising they are not alone in their anxieties and the NT teens will get an insight into just how hard life is for ASD teens. They might then gain a better understanding of the quiet geeky girl/boy in their class and know that it's not that they don't want to join in, but how hard it is for them. Inclusion is what we are aiming for.

A meteorite is a meteor that has fallen to Earth. Meteorites are made of stone, iron, or stony-iron. Some of the stories are a little mediocre, but Gaiman’s wonderful writing style lifts them above the line, turning them into most enjoyable reads. I feel an inferior author would not have been able to accomplish this, and I find Gaiman to be, along with authors such as Stephen King, a natural teller of stories. For me he could almost write about anything and it would be enjoyable. Massachusetts is a state in the northeastern United States of America. Its capital is Boston.
