About this deal

Some mention it's easy to assemble and clean, while others say it' s quite confusing to put together and that the clips were very stiff and cost them lots of time. This cage is much too small for a guinea pig (guinea pigs are best kept in same sex pairs as they are herd animals and need 149cm cages at least).

The Maxi Duna Multy is a durable plastic cage for hamsters and mice, with a transparent roof and wire mesh, designed to ensure proper air flow. It is very large - almost one metre long - and has a large, transparent plastic roof with a grid on top that can be opened. The multy maxi would be the better of the two as the smaller one would be too small for a Syrian, even with the larger one you wouldn't have a lot of room for substrate with a 12" wheel that a fully grown Syrian needs.

The bin cage idea is great, but I don't think I want a big plastic box in my living room, if you know what I mean. The plastic used on this cage is rigid and durable, great for my hamster who likes to chew on anything in sight. It helps keep the cage clean and dry - you just empty the litter tray, saves on substrate, less clean outs and less stress for the hamster.Dieser Käfig ist ideal für meine Tierschutzarbeit und hat bereits viele Jungtiere bis zur erfolgreichen Auswilderung beherbergt. Leaving the solid shelf gives a level and removing the other shelf gives space for a good sized wheel.

It is very large – almost one metre long – and has a large, transparent plastic roof with a grid on top that can be opened. There are two water bottle holes in this cage so you will need either two bottles or something to cover one hole up! It's just about tall enough to contain a 30cm wheel (the correct size for a Syrian), and there's room for lots of enrichment, different substrates, a multi-chamber hide etc. With any tank style they can feel a bit exposed so it's quite important to have plenty of enrichment - accessories etc and a good house, so they have somewhere to retreat to and something to sit under. If you get the Alaska or Hamster heaven you won't need the platform although could use it instead of the plastic shelf. So enrichment is different textures and levels, places to go, things to do, things to chew on (eg the hyacinth tunnel), things to scratch their claws on - wood.

The bottom half is nice and deep and my hamster loved to burrow in the deep substrate that i have put in. A cage can look quite nice if set up well with contents Bars are great for attaching things to, tying tunnels to etc - and good ventilation as well. The base is of a flexible sturdy plastic, however the top is of hard clear plastic which they say is very secure. The only downsides are that it would be good if it was somewhat taller, to allow for deeper substrate; and if you have a hamster that particularly loves to chew, they have been known to chew their way out (although this hasn't happened with mine).
