A fine example of what the group have always done so well - running with wolves like Mogwai, only with far more metal sensibilities, and a damn-sight bigger helping of experimentalism, when this bad boy arrived in 2019 it shot straight to the top of the US Billboard 200, the third consecutive record from the group to do so. The included art and etchings on the reverse of the albums look great but doubt it is something I would display. Later, Tool became a dominant act in the alternative metal movement with the release of its follow-up album Ænima in 1996.Due to inventory and accounting purposes, we do not exchange items received for different items than originally purchased. The official vinyl LP versions have 9 songs (they include 'Legion Inoculant' and 'Mockingbeat', which are not included on the CD) and are roughly 84 and a half minutes long. The most intense songs on the album are Pneuma and 7empest and they're half the intensity of anything else they've recorded previously. We carry a broad range of CDs and vinyl (7”/12” singles and LPs) and specialise in indie, alternative, rock, punk, metal plus a few other genres. The discs are packaged in a hard shell box with new album art, and a bound casebook holding the vinyl along with new imagery not previously seen. As far as the music is concerned, Chris Bellman has done a stupendous job mastering and mixing this album. They're still masters of odd time signatures and 10+ minute songs but other than that, it was tough to find anything that really stood out to me while listening. Tool has won three Grammy Awards, performed worldwide tours, and produced albums topping the charts in several countries. Tool is a very visually driven band and I expected something a little more visually interesting to look at than what they chose for the album cover.

Of course, those charts don't necessarily mean as much in this age as they did when the preceding Tool LP dropped, but 270,000 album-equivalent units within the first week do not lie. From the the very first note, this album takes me back to cruising down the highway, Maynard and the boys blasting from the tape deck.

It doesn't sound like the band challenged themselves or grew in any meaningful way over the last thirteen years. The first official vinyl version made available was the ultra deluxe 5LP boxset, when copies signed by the band were sold exclusively at Tool shows from February 20 2022.
