About this deal

The woofers used with the RP-600M are Cerametallic woofers that measure six and a half inches. They are stiff and rigid, being an excellent material of choice considering low distortion as a requirement. So maybe that is the reason for not pulling its response up higher? Nah. They wanted this kind of response. The titanium tweeter diaphragm's light weight yet rigid composition exceeds the performance of aluminum, polymer or silk tweeters. A vented tweeter design reduces standing waves behind the tweeter diaphragm for a smoother high frequency reproduction.

Many speakers in the market can match the price range, but there are not many speakers that can match the deep bass that this speaker produces. These speakers tend to offer an atmosphere like a live performance. Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room. A couple others have come and gone. Real HARD room. No treatment possible right now in this shared space.Directivity (on and off-axis similarity) looks very good though. In theory then, that dip would be one we can fill in with equalization. Klipsch award-winning Linear Travel Suspension technology leverages a piston motion of the titanium diaphragm that lowers distortion and delivers real-to-life sound. At the price that this speaker is available at, the Klipsch RP-600M can be an overachiever with the help of the right electronic gadgets. If you connect these speakers to a good tube amplifier, a beautiful match is made in electronics heaven.

There are 2 Klipsch Factories, one makes throwaway loudspeakers , one makes Legacy Hardwood Loudspeakers. The RP-600M's sensitivity is specified as an extraordinarily high 96dB/W/m, its frequency response as 45Hz–25kHz, ±3dB. The quality of the Klipsch RP-600M build is excellent considering the price it is offered at. Features concerning the technology

At least the vertical directivity is consistent with the horizontal directivity. And we can say at least we won't be afraid of treble reflections. I presume spinorama already takes those into account when generating the in-room frequency response. The aesthetic of this speaker is pretty well thought of by the team. The Tractrix horn has been accented with copper so that it matches the copper finish of the woofers. Who doesn’t enjoy good music quality to enjoy whether throughout the day or just for a bit of time? I found the RP-600M easy enough to position, although you don't want it too close to a boundary wall, for it needs at least 50cm of breathing space for optimum bass performance. A slight toe-in helped sharpen-up the stereo imaging too. Otherwise it's equally unfussy about the partnering amplifier. I used a beefy Cambridge Audio Edge W but discovered it was just as happy on the end of Icon Audio's Stereo 40 valve amp [ HFN May '19]. In both cases, a Chord Hugo 2 DAC [ HFN Aug '18] was employed as my main source.

There are speakers in the market that play even bigger, revealing more detail, but non this good for their price. As the tweeter has some directivity, you will need to do the setup carefully. Every speaker needs to be placed at a distance from the rear wall and angled in the same way. This is a really interesting case. It's pretty remarkable how good the directivity is given how flawed the on-axis is. Those DI curves are better than the vast majority of the speakers tested so far. STRONG, FLEXIBLE, REMOVABLE GRILLE - Attaches magnetically for an elegant transition from powerful showstopper to discrete performance piece. This suggests to me decent engineering compromised by 'tuning by ear.' Why you would tune 2K down by a good 5 dB, I have no idea, especially considering this area is already compromised by interaural crosstalk -- and even more so on a narrowish directivity design. Naked, the WE555 diaphragm looks a lot like a metal-dome tweeter, and almost exactly like the drivers in some of today's best and most expensive headphones. I mention this because, without a horn, these aluminum domes become "dome tweeters" that convert less than 1% of the energy supplied them into acoustic output. With a horn attached, the WE555 converts more than 20% (footnote 2). For those of you bothered by these remarks, please skip to the conclusions. Don't want you to suffer needlessly.... It's one of the 'Marmite' products that you are either going to love... or not. Superficially, it's a bouncy, zesty sort of performer that definitely causes you to sit up on the sofa and pay attention to the music. At the same time, it's a little uneven sounding. There's a bump that makes the upper bass sound a tad more gutsy than perhaps it should given the size of the loudspeaker, and the tweeter is typically lively and, on occasions, even hard-sounding. Some sounds will reach your ear from the speakers directly, and those frequencies that reached you have actually bounced off walls and then reached you. The sonic character of the sound gets affected when it bounces off surfaces. It also causes a delay in the sound.
